Create Your
Conscious
Space.
Welcome to Psyche Butterfly
Creating a space that truly feels like you can be surprisingly tricky. For some, following a clear design like Scandinavian, Bohemian, or Minimalist provides the framework they need to feel satisfied in their space, reflecting them, creative, and free. But if I am being honest, none of those frameworks work for me. While I have drawn from Marie Kondo’s principles, I will never want to be a perfectly tidy or minimalist person. If that were the goal in this project, I would be disqualified from blog 1. Instead, this blog, and pairing free resources, are about empowering you to create a space (only once!) that supports your brain, not fights it. A space where your mind can breathe for what it wants to focus on. You are not constantly searching for your keys, feeling like your space isn’t accepted by the norm, or feeling weighed down by your surroundings.
I know, firsthand, that achieving this state can feel out of reach, expensive, or meant only for those with impeccably curated homes. In those spaces, upkeep, checklists, and daily routines seem to come effortlessly, while it may not for us. At its core, creating your conscious space with Psyche Butterfly is not about being good at this. It’s about being able to muster up the focus and energy to do it once, and never having to do it again. It’s about creating a backbone of you, through a 16 Week Space Refresh marathon, and then living in that ease. It’s about making sure your space supports the life you actually want, without stripping away the color, creativity, and beautiful chaos that makes it yours.
Full Disclaimer 🛑
I am not naturally inclined toward simplicity or maintaining a tidy space. My partner often jokes that he can't remember the last time I picked up the vacuum. When I bake bread or cook, I have no hesitation in letting the flour fly and ingredients scatter across the floor. If there’s a mystery stain on the counter when we move out as roommates, odds are it’s my doing. Shoes off? Mehhh. Id’ say I excel at making a space feel lived in 😆 Priorities are people and the strange places you find yourself navigating to when you’re together, including yourself, not spotless floors. I bet if you’re here, you feel this way too.
My friends will tell you that I am the person who picks the brightest and most complex direction. Sometimes a lot. But I have learned that when you build a backbone of simple systems and choices for your physical life, your home can support your colorful mind. Instead of feeling like you must fit into a box, we can build a physical system for a mind never forced out of its play.
