Hey, I’m Tori.

The inspiration for this blog is twofold.

PART I: Systems of Simplicity

Clear is kind.

In 2024, my partner and I lost sight of our core value of 'Community First.' After being let go from a corporate job that had a lasting impact on me, I found myself struggling to trust the intuition that had guided me since I was 15. At 29, for the first time, I doubted it deeply, losing my sense of boundaries and clear communication. Jared faced and is facing his own challenges. Together, we went through a more than average, messy year, still growing and living in it.

To realign with ‘Community First' (including ourselves!), we're simplifying our environment, travel, and communication. By focusing on what we truly love in these areas, we can prioritize meaningful connections, regardless of what life throws our way. Whether re-establishing your intuition in yourself or getting straight to the good stuff with your community, as Brené Brown said—clear is kind.

We'll start with the simplest—our environment. Beginning on my 31st birthday, September 16, 2024, my blog will document a 52-week journey with new posts every Monday. Here's what to expect:

  • September 16 - October 7: An introduction to the blog and our story.

  • October 14 - September 16, 2025: The physical transformation: I’m designing Canva checklists, Google spreadsheets, and more, all inspired by the KonMari Method—and you’ll get them for free! What this is: tidying and simplifying. What this is not: minimalism. Think “van life” as a guiding north star, but with average Jane practicality and eco-conscious approaches. I’ve seen the haters and read the backlash. We’ll take an updated approach to the method.

  • January 1 - September 16, 2025: A simultaneous challenge: only buying essentials—food, groceries, and toiletries—following the ideas from The Year of Less by Cait Flanders. Join me in the New Year for nine months.

  • September 16, 2025 - New Year's 2026: A dive into personal styling and conscious wardrobe choices, applying joy to practical and sustainable fashion. We will re-build after the year long journey of what it feels like to deep dive tidy.

After this year of research and practice, I plan to launch a formal branch of Psyche Butterfly called Paradigm. The goal is to make interior design and tidying services more accessible, sharing our insights to help transform your space.

PART II: Inner Work Reflections

Travel your mind.

What's next? Travel. Who says you can’t impact your environment and travel at the same time? We're starting with small, simple changes. Do you travel for work? My partner, Jared, is streamlining his work trips by scheduling them back-to-back, cutting his flights from 12 to 6 per year. We prefer staying active, both for work and pleasure, and we don’t see this ending anytime soon. But it’s how we do it that matters. Psyche Butterfly will explore how simplifying our spaces influences travel choices and sparks deeper, more meaningful communication.

We'll also dive deep into communication—a lifelong challenge for everyone. From breathwork to how we speak to our own bodies, I'll share insights from Rolf Gates' Meditations on the Mat. While I wasn’t in a place to fully embody yoga’s teachings in 2024, they were my anchor during times of panic. My goal is to build systems of simplicity so I can become a better yoga teacher. Alongside the launch of Paradigm, Psyche Butterfly’s third pillar, Prana, will debut in 2025, focusing on mind exploration through breathwork.

We're ready to reshape our environment, travel, and communication to grow with our community. Our focus is on fostering the deeper, meaningful connections that follow.

Psyche, the Greek goddess of the soul, is often depicted with butterfly-like wings, symbolizing an enlightened traveler. Her trials and tribulations are overcome by intuition, embracing ancient wisdom, and patiently enduring her challenges. Her intuition is simple, her ancient wisdom learned from inner work, and her endurance a result of mental travel. Sometimes we have journeys in life that throw us off course. But we can be reminded of peace when we seek pillars that uphold community, in yourself and at large. Psyche Butterfly is the soul of these efforts. You’re welcome along for the ride.

With Psyche Butterfly…
